I joined the Forum about a month ago and have yet to make a proper introduction. I'm from Berkeley, California and have been collecting off and on for forty years (started with ancients when I was 11). Anyway, I accumulated a pretty good sized collection in my teenage years with about 50 roman emperors. I had some pretty good coins including a Marc Antony legionary denarius and one of Caesar with the elephant, and the rest of the 12 Caesars in denarii. I ended up selling that collection when I was 18 partly to fund my college expenses. Too bad, I know... But I started collecting again about 2.5 years ago buying from crustyromans.com and then cleaning and attributing coin lots, mainly LRB. So I've also got some provincial bronzes, antoniniani, folles, biblical coins and some other things. Since I'm semi-retired from the venture finance industry I'm starting to upgrade the collection with interesting stuff. So far, I have been amazed at the generosity of the forum members, even sending me free coins!!! Anyway, thanks for having me and I'm really enjoying the forum so far.
First, I extend my personal welcome ancient coin hunter (great nom de plume that) -- if ever I can get properly organized I intend to contribute some duplicate coins to this community.
Welcome. I'm originally from Oakland. Berkeley has some rather fun memories, party college town. I'm sure it's changed from 30 or so years ago
It's still a fun town! Many of the same watering holes remain, as well as Top Dog. The university has increased in size/number of buildings, though. I was in my junior year 30 years ago.
haha! you're new here?!?.. maybe just late on the introduction.(and you don't seem like a noob here now) but let me officially welcome you... WELCOME!
