1957 D never seen!******

    So this is in my collection but with the new recent findings I don't see it anywhere. Redish colorings, obvious doubling of the date stamp, and filled in B in Liberty and 5.......any advice? Anyone seen one like this? 1497044889210-260066005.jpg

    I think it's similar to this one I have:

    This is a combination of die chips inside the letters plus MDD (machine damage doubling, AKA strike doubling).

    Yes we have. It's nothing but Die Chips on the date. It's a common occurrence on Wheat Cents from the 1950's. Especially 1957 and 1959. I found about 10 of them when I started collecting Mint Errors over 30 years ago and have seen dozens of examples ever since.
    Not a Major Mint Error.
