Talk about being electricfied , I just made it into the top 100 with my Morgan set and have 19 empty slots , I have the complete set minus the 95 proof graded, those 19 are other grading companies. My one per date set is in the top 50 , it has been a VERY FINE DAY !!!
Congratulations, but what is a "one per date" set? Aren't "one per" and "date" completely different types of sets?
Congrats! I'm not all up to date on registry sets. I know you get awarded points based on the coin's grade and population rank in that grade. But, whats it all about? Do you win something for the most points, or is it more for re-sale prestige? I've never looked into it much and haven't seen much on the subject here and was just curious. Guy~
I've read about it a little in investment books, and what I took from it, it sounds like a way for just about anyone to form a pedegree collection of sorts. In other words, an MS 65 coin graded and not part of a regitry set might sell on the market for $100, while an MS 65 graded coin in a registry set might sell for double that. Same coin, same grade, but with points attributed to it. It's basically a pedigree cirtification thats bought. Sounds good if you invest in coins for profit. Not to mention, it would be great fun and a challenge to complete say a Morgan registry set in the top 100. I can't even imagine what that set would sell for at auction! Guy~
Congrats!! I now anoint you "The Grand Pupa of Morgans!" Maybe someday there will be a "miscellaneous" registry for me.
A one per date set means that you can have any 1 coin of a given date and any mint to qualify. The other set requires all dates, all mints.
Congrats on your sets. I think the Registry and Signature sets are fun. They certainly are interesting to look at.
