This coin caught my attention, ended up winning it. AR Stater ND circa 361 BC / Tarsos Mint Issued by the Satrap of Cilicia obv. Baaltars seated Left/ holding Scepter in Left Hand And....he is holding a Grain Ear/ Grape Cluster/ Eagle in Right Hand! Rev. Lion Attacking Bull
Nice! I have never seen Zeus looking so happy to be on a coin before! The lion attacking bull scene is particularly ferocious on your coin. I have a coin with a somewhat tamer example of an attacking lion.
Super example!!! Huge congrats @panzerman !!! I just purchased one of those a few weeks ago. Mine is of a slightly lower 'grade' but one I dearly love.
Thanks all! Where have you been? Answer: Cutting grass/weeding flowerbeds/trimming hedges.... We have had a very rainy Spring, which means weeds/ grass growing like on steroids/ plus I picked up ten more clients, so I am maintaining 145 properties @ week=working 98 hrs a week and still behind! The ONLY good part to this madness is that it will equal lots of dough for COINS. Other good thing....it keeps one in really good shape. I have never been to a doctor since I was in highschool, might get the sniffles here and there. I will try to keep in touch by posting early in the morning/ I head out for work around 6:30, get home 9:30PM/ have supper at 10:00PM. I have time to cast my proxy bids before I head off to bed!
WOW... @panzerman , It sounds like you need to 'hire' some help..... Since you may have missed this thread I posted of my 'Baaltar', I thought I'd add the link----so much was posted that will be of interest to you Again, I LOVE your Cilician Stater!!!! https://www.cointalk.com/threads/baaltar-and-the-persian-satrap.297283/
Thanks for that link, learned a lot. Yours is stunning I hate to admit this, but before I saw my coin on CNG auction site, I had no clue it even existed. Kinda sad that they were able to design such a nice coin back then, while in 2017 most modern designs are tasteless. Back to work, its really hard to find "good help".
Very nice. I like the designs on both sides. I've been trying to find a coin type that really grabs my attention, both obverse, and reverse. This type is right there. Thanks for posting this one. P.S. all work, and no play... get a helper.
