Don't worry. I don't intend to inflict the dozen or so various FEL TEMPs that I have added to my pile in the last month or so but thought that one coin from the pile was worthy of sharing with you all.

The Falling horseman output of Constantius Gallus at Alexandria is split into three groups. These groups get smaller over the three and a half years that they are thought to have been produced over. These are produced in parallel with coins for Constantius II.

The first group are 22-23 mm in size and have a Gamma in the left field on the reverse and the ALE* mintmark in exe.
The second group shrinks to 20-22 mm in size ans there are two sub-series within this group. The first sub-series has a Delta behind the bust and with ALE* in exe. The second sub-series loses the letter behind the but adds a dot S dot in the left field on the reverse.
The third group shrinks again to 16-19 mm and just has the ALE* in exe.

After this the coins of Gallus stop and the next groups shrink to 15-17mm with coins of Constantius II and Julian II.

I had been looking for one of the First Group issues for Constantius Gallus to fit in with my other coins in this series and it is this coin that new addition..

    Constantius Gallus - AE2

Obv:– DN CONSTANTI-VS NOB CAES, Bare, bust draped and cuirassed right
Rev:– FEL TEMP RE-PARATIO, Soldier spearing fallen horseman, who is bare headed, reaching back towards the emperor
    Minted in Alexandria (G|_//ALED),
Reference:– RIC VIII Alexandria 74 corr. (headgear) (C2)

It sits as follows in the coins that I have from this series thus far. The search continues.

Constantius II from the same Group. (RIC 72)

Constantius II Group 2, Series 1 (RIC 75)

Constantius II Group 3 (RIC 80)

Constantius Gallus Group 3 (RIC 81)

I only have a single Julian II from the later issue (RIC 85)

I bought mine off a Frank Robinson cheap list several years ago. It's a dot S dot, but apparently at the higher end of the scale at 23.2mm at its widest?
