While making a deposit today I asked the teller for the CR's on the counter. She couldn't give them to me because they were turned in by a customer and not checked by the bank. She offered me "new" rolls from the draw. When I insisted on the roll's on the counter she gave me a crazy look and explained it was against policy. Oh well.

I wonder if they are just checking to make sure there are the correct amount of coins in each roll, or if they check for silver as well.

They probably don't want the customer coming back to complain about the three buttons and four slugs they found in the rolls.

I've had that happen. Then I tell the lead teller that I collect coins and I like to go through the customer rolls. I tell them, that I realize sometimes they are short sometimes they are long, it's just a part of my hobby and I won't be back to complain about a roll that is short. Most of the times they then hand them over to me.

I have to believe that is just a thing with that teller, as noted above they may be checking the rolls themselves for silver or somehow got burned with Canadian, Mexican etc in the past and is being cautious.

I know of one teller at one of my credit unions that does indeed check the rolls she takes in, then she calls me to come get them if there is anything good.

Teller: "You don't whats in here" (holding a roll up). This is for your protection.
    Me: "I'll take my chances".
Teller: (With a "look"), you're crazy as she takes the rolls off the counter.

The teller was so adamant against giving me the rolls I'm starting to believe they're looking for silver.
This bank (no names) (td) has rarely coughed up any Ken'ies and now this. I'm thinking it's time to take my business else where.

This teller wore me down. She wasn't taken any explanations or concessions from me. I will use your advice to strengthen my resolve or take my business elsewhere. Thanks for being on my side!

Now thats customer service! I'm sure you are generous with her (cup of coffee, a gift card around the holidays, etc) in return. I'm still looking for the right "connection". Thanks for sharing!

If I see customer rolls around, the way I usually ask for them is to request the ones with "reusable" rolls. Since they don't know what the coins are for, I suggest that I'd use those papers to re-roll what I don't use.
