how do you display your us type set. Im thinking dansco, but its kinda expensive, what do you guys think fo the whitman album 20th century type set? thanks
I know that these are a little more expensive than an album but they make a nice display. The first one is $44.95 and the second one is $58.55 from http://www.jakesmp.com.
I actually like those small typeset displays (most of the ones they chose anyhow) but errrr... why do they have a spot for ever 1999 Quarter? Otherwise... I have the Dansco 7070 and think it's great (again, for the most part).
its just expensive for me. Yesterday i bought a pres dollar dansco, and ive recently bought several coins. So im a little low on money.
for some of the inexpensive coins, i will be putting in bu's (ex. franklin half, all modern issues, wheat cent ect.) for the others, whatever i can afford.
Take the pres dollar dansco back and buy a 7070. There really is no other substitute. Put the pres dollars in the $6.96 Whitman trifold folder. The dansco is to good for them.
thats not really an obtion, i've decided to make a huge deal out of presidential dollars, as they are what got me REAlly into coin collecting, thats why i have a roll collection of them, and a dansco album which will eventually be full.
I have been working on a Dansco 7070 type set and think this is the best way to go. Since I prefer to use higher grade coins in the 7070, I bought a Whitman type set album today to use for some lower grade coins I have. Had a lot of fun as I almost completed it using coins that I didn't consider appropriate for the Dansco. So, in my case, I am doing both. The Whitman is a much smaller type set but still can be a lot of fun.
Event the barbers? I did my 20th century with all unc and proof except for barbers and the indian cent.
dansco 7070 is the only way. I'm trying to do as miny uncs as I can, but the rest will be au with an occasional xf, until you get to the real old coppers that I don't know what I'm going to do. I'm to the point I only fill a couple of holes a year.
Dansco has a gold page, though I didn't get it. Kinda wished I did, though some of my gold is slabbed and I'm not sure I'd break it out.
You could start collecting the coins that are in the album and buy the album later. You can find a checklist to inventory your7070 collection here: http://www.coincommunity.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=16416&SearchTerms=indexlog I bought my Dansco 7070 album last month. I wanted something to start putting the coins in to look at even though it is still mostly empty.
Mow lawns, set up a lemonade stand, deliver newspapers or pick up a couple extra shifts at McDonalds ...the 7070 is worth the effort. It will look even nicer knowing that you worked hard to get it.
its a little late for that, summer just ended, if the 7070 is relly the only way to go, then eventually i will have be able to buy one.
I used a 7070 for my first type set, but then the type set bug got me and I want to do one my way instead of in a preconcieved way as planned by dansco or whitman or capital plastics, so my next one will be stored in NGC boxes (they are far superior to PCGS boxes as they hold both NCG and PCGS coins properly). That way I can include the types/subtypes I want.
