This Agrippa as is currently being offered. The portrait style (the slightly smiling Agrippa) looks very unusual to me; the Agrippas I've seen (and I've seen a lot) all seem to reflect the stern visage of the great admiral. This portrait seems similar to a museum reproduction I've seen. Does this coin raise any concerns for others, or is it a portrait style I'm simply unacquainted with?
The coin seems similar to this "museum quality reproduction" currently offered on eBay: http://www.ebay.ie/itm/Roman-E-As-o...532441?hash=item4b179a4159:g:KBYAAOSw~OVWxxNn
I think you answered your own question. It's completely different than any Agrippa I've seen, so my first assumption is it's not authentic.
I is unlike any that I have ever seen, and I have seen a lot of them. That is not a good sign. I agree with Bing - not authentic.
It was being offered by Savoca Coins in a Sixbid-affiliated auction, which is why I was a bit taken aback. The style was so obviously fake that I couldn't believe it was being offered by a legitimate auction house. But the coin has been withdrawn, so they realized the error. It happens. Props to them for removing it.
