1886 Morgan

    As I was taking a closer look at some of the coins in my collection, I came across this. Is this an example of a railroad rim? Or a misaligned die? Or nothing? I see what appears to be an extra set of denticles located partially 20170606_205050-1.jpg 20170606_205132-1.jpg around the rim on both the obverse and reverse. @paddyman98 or any other knowledgeable error guys please help me out.

    I should note that nothing was attributed by the grading service.

    I see what you mean.
    Morgans are weird. I can think that it was a Misaligned die strike but that usually occurs on one side but rare for both sides.
    Also..
    If a coin is sent to a third party such as NGC they will not attribute a Mint Error if you don't request it.

    Maybe some Morgan Dollar VAM experts can give a better attribution :wideyed:
