I went to the bank yesterday and picked up 10 rolls of Lincoln cents just to kill sometime this morning. I sorted through two rolls before and was looking through my microscope when I found a 1995 cent piece from Philadelphia. Was I surprised to move it around and find it was a doubled die. Made my day.
I picked up 10 rolls of cents and I found my best haul so far. 5 rolls were wheats, 1 1909, 1 1910, some 1915, 1919, about 20 1920's, 35 1930's, 3 rolls of 1940's and almost 1 roll of 1950's. Monday I will go back and see what the coin Gods have in store for me. I also bought 5 rolls of wheats for a dollar each and 28.50 in clad(40 percent) halves for 2.00 each from a friend of mine.
Nice photos. Roseland, although close ups are great. A full size obv. and rev. would be great to see. It looks to be http://varietyvista.com/01a LC Doubled Dies Vol 1/1955PDDO002.htm
I went to the regular bank I go to and got five dollars of cents, I hope the coin gods smile on me, well I only found a roll of wheat cents this time. I will keep going back and try and find more wheats.
Monetarily? No. You'd spend more money on it getting it slabbed than you could sell it for. However, it is worth putting it into your own airtight or whatever other plastic case you have. It's a great find and an awesome error.
Thanks. New to this forum. I have been collecting for years but have little knowledge as to whats important to save and whats not. The cent is locked away in a 2 x 2 plastic airtime holder.
I love the terminology use! Doubled and not double die. You just saved Paddyman some time and heartache.
