As you can tell there is a Giant ding below the mint mark just so happens to be right next to what looks like an S under the D IMG_1070.JPG IMG_1068.JPG

I think it is just damage, too, but if it had been a "D over S", it would have correctly been called an OMM (Over Mintmark) rather than an RPM.

Just thought you'd like to know!

Notice how the coin has a number of digs and scratches on just the part you illustrated. This indicates that the coin has seen a hard life. Anytime, you see a coin with heavy wear or damage, you should be skeptical if you think you see a very rare or unusual error. (I don't believe there any reported D/S for 1969 cents, so finding one almost 50 years later would be a major find).

That's not to say it isn't possible to find something new on a beat up coin, it's just highly unlikely. People have been actively searching for error coins for years.

Not an OMM, especially with the difference in what might have been the font size. The normal mint marks were from same sized fonts, except in the years the die setter grabbed the mm punch for a different coin to give like "large S", small s " varieties.

Then the picture I'm about to send you '- you would say more then likely it is not a 1969 S over D. Cause I believe I shoyld send it it for grading. Just hope my camera will do justice l.

Start your own unique thread with pictures. This is an old thread.

BTW.. You would send a suspected OMM to have it Attributed not just Graded. There is an extra fee for that. It won't get attributed if you don't pay the extra money. And if it is what you think it is then it is not worth sending it anyway. It's nothing major.
