Have a coin that you knew that there was more than met the eye? Let's see your cherry picks....and hear how you kept a poker face until the deal was done... Post them stories... Here's one I found today at a show an 1876 MPD -001 Misplaced date in the denticles.
I know everyone probably get's tired of this one. But it was and probably will remain my biggest cherrypick of all time.
1884 IHC Star in Reverse shield top left corner there's a device that looks like an misplaced star. Snow #1
How about a variety that made the cover of the Cherrypickers guide.....but wasn't listed in the book? An 1847 large cent with a large 7 over small 7.
This is a recent addition that I just photographed for the under $50 thread but this may be more appropriate - a raw Coneca DDO-004/ Wexler DDO-008. The most impressive spread for a 1940-S Mercury.
So true Larry ,as the porpoise of this thread to make others aware. How many collectors have these or others that add a huge interest to their collections? Not to mention extra meat on the bone should they sell. Not everyone is a variety collector ,that's not what they collect , but what if they discovered that one coin of their set was a real raw variety ? I hope others post their variety coins to educate , as to the possibility of a major score.
