1895 Japan Yen - Authentic?

    I'm hoping to gather some opinion on this piece that's incoming. The first thing I'll do when it comes in the mail is to check for any magnetism and its weight. Assuming all of those pass, I've compared the photos to die markers online and it's difficult to tell from just a few passes, but they seem to check out so far. Do you think it's authentic?

    By the way, I think this example will grade as AU-55 or AU-58 at best.

    Nice coin, nothing causes any alarm bells to go off in my head.

    This is well outside my normal collecting range, but I don't see anything immediately obvious that points to fake.

    As for grade, is there decent luster? It's hard to tell from those pics. Without good luster, I would lean more towards AU-50 (or even EF-45).

    Looks good with that photo, and check the diameter too. I had one nearly spot on with weight but the diameter was a giveaway.
