Russia (Empire), 1792. I think this is 5 kopecks (if I remember Russian numbers correctly). Hope this helps.

"Whopper coppers", I affectionately call these. :)

They're very popular, due to their sheer size and chunkiness, but also the cool designs, 18th century dates, and relatively affordable prices.

PS- I personally would grade your example as a strong VF. It has some minor surface issues, but really, that's not so uncommon with these.

Here is the Krause/NGC priceguide listing.

By that reckoning, you've got a $45-50-ish coin here, retail.

I remember getting these for $20 a pop only a decade ago, in a pick bin at one of the FUN shows. Those days are pretty much long gone.

Yeah, this issue is prominent on my list of "series I won't be able to resist collecting forever" due to their availability (aside a stopper or two) and appeal. :) They vary widely in weight, as well; I've had examples differing by more than 10g.

Thank you all for your help... It really is a cool coin and it has some heft to it. Love the Whopper Copper nickname :joyful:
    Thanks again...

I got about 25 in a bulk lot for about $4 ea in the 90's. Kept about a dozen diff and sold the rest at the coin club for about $6-$7 ea.
