I received 4 one dollar bills out of the Self Checkout at the grocery store today. All four have serial numbers in sequence and are in crisp uncirculated condition. My question is are they worth saving or should I just spend them on a cup of Starbucks coffee?

    Seriously,

It's up to you and whether you enjoy collecting paper money. The specific series will take a long time to appreciate, but in as little as 5 years, you will find yourself paying a premium (in the form of time or money) if you change your mind and decide you want some CU 2003 $1 bills.

    Hope this helps.

Every time a new series comes out, I put some consecutive notes like this away. It's never going to make me rich, but, like gatzdon says, it saves me money down the road. As it is, I get them for face, so if I decide to spend them, I'm out only face.

The only notes of this pattern I have that might have any value really, are a set of 3 consecutive star notes from 2001, and a set of 5 1957 silver certificates.

I would hold on to them even if they aren't worth too much. You never know what you might get for them in the future. Even if it is just face value you haven't lost anything.
