    Time for another Ike.

In keeping with the proof theme. I have several of these. Don't think I have played this one yet though. 1971SBB.jpg

Less than ideal pix. Nice coin. I bought it twice, not initially realizing I had owned it before when I bought it the second time. Guess that shows my tastes are fairly consistent sometimes.

You know, I'm not attacking anyone, criticizing @lordmarcovan, or judging anyone, or expressing disdain for US coins...but I do wish this "world coin uno" thread in the world coin forum was exclusively non-US. Again, not that I have anything against US coins...but I've seen them. The joy of this thread (for me) is getting to see other collectors' coins from around the world that I don't ever get to see in hand.

Again, I do not wish to discourage others from attaching their US coins to the thread, as the OP allowed it.

Side note: I really, really searched to try to find a silver world coin from 1852 (knowing I had plenty of 1852 Bank of Canada 1/2 Penny Tokens on hand but not images) and came close a few times (usually a decade or two either way) and had a nice 1952 commemorative....but unfortunately commemorating 1652 ha ha...

I know what you're saying. It's all too easy to get jaded when it comes to US coins. "Been there, seen that." But US coins are world coins. And having them to fall back on has no doubt gotten us "unstuck" a time or two.

But yes, we've probably fallen back on US coins a bit too often. In my case, that's almost all I've got photographed from the 20th century, for example- my metal detector finds. Because of where I live, those naturally tend to be US coins.

Opinion duly noted. I for one shall try to not post a US coin when there is a non-US alternative to be posted.

But I do collect both, so it's nice to be able to post both.

And... right after saying that, here I go posting another US coin. ;)

But hey, I don't have pix of any Swedish, so I had to go 1857, and so it was...

My UNC details Flying Eagle cent from the Holey Coin Vest.

Crazy coin, eh? The only MS Flyer I've ever had.

Nice luster... mint fresh appearance... BUT...

PS- speaking of Swedish, I have lamented more than once not having a picture of the 1750 plate money 4-daler piece I had from the Nicobar shipwreck. That was the biggest "coin" I've ever owned.

@Aethelred posted some not long ago. I had the opportunity to view those piece in hand. Quite impressive, not only for size and heft, but they were pretty nice examples, too.
