My father was a SeeBee in WW-II. Today, Memorial Day, I remember him for his service to his country and as a great parent. My father, Don, and sister Mary. http://www.nww2m.com/2012/03/seabees-birthday/ He was not a coin collector, but he supported my collecting. The only coin I have from him is a token he brought back from China (it had a square hole). It is not rated G or even PG, so I will not post it here. If you have a coin your father gave you, post it today.
My great uncle Jean who was part of the 30th infantry regiment, killed in action liberating Italy May 23, 1944.
My grandfather James "Pete" Clark who served during W.W. II in the USAF in the 758th Bomb Squadron, 459th Bomb Group (they flew B-24 Liberators). He was killed over Austria on 26 June 1944. He was only 21 years old.
My Uncle Jamie Osborne was killed in Italy in 1944. My father was wounded in France in 1944. He didn't collect much of anything, but he did bring back some Nazi memorabilia which I still own (but have no images to share).
My grandfather, WWII pacific, USS Mount Olympus, several kamikazee attacks. My great-uncle, 82nd Airborne, captured D-Day, released after war. Went in at 145lbs, released at 82lbs. Uncle, USAF, retired. Great grandfather, US Army, WWI. Returned home and with my great grandmother and my great uncle, all succumbed to Spanish Flu worldwide pandemic. My grandfather survived as orphan.
My grandfather and his brother were WWII vets. My grandfather was a paratrooper and I can't remember what his brother did. Both came home but have since passed.
