...and collecting plastic credit cards then submitting them to TPGs to grade and then put into their plastic.
Once the government bans physical currency that's all she wrote. Its already happening in Scandinavia
I always keep a quarter since the local Aldi's market uses one to unlock a cart from the row. So when you return the cart back, it releases your same quarter. The parking lot is meticulous compared to Vons ( Safeway) , Food for less, Albertsons, Walmart, etc. And if you leave a cart ( too lazy to return it), the cart person, who they say actually only works at end of shift, gets a tip, but the shoppers ( like coinstar hunting) know they can use it and get a quarter back free.
I carry a single Morgan in my pocket. I couldn't imagine carrying ten or more; my pockets wouldn't last six months. As it is I can feel the weight even when it's the only coin there. Crown-sized coins were cool when change was carried in a bag or coinpurse, but on your body they're less friendly.
At my Albertsons tipping is not allowed. And there is no one covering the carts. People just walk out with them, and the lazy SOB's don't even take them back. I can't stand looking at them (because the neighborhood is very nice, and this looks terrible.) We live very close, so I have taken many of them back. Sometimes I would call customer service and eventually they send a truck out to pick up the abandoned carts. I have given up. Also, Albertsons was just bought out, so there are some changes. The quarter thing is highlighted in the movie "The Terminal" with Tom Hanks.
You could always have a clad coin with a slug of silver in the middle or something. I think that's been done in other countries, but I don't remember
You can't have any PMs in them or they would get hoarded and you would have no circulating dollars of any type. At best you could silver plate them which would be completely meaningless and just drive up the cost
Doesn't happen at ours, even though there are always folks panhandling at the intersection that leads to the parking lot. They may enforce "no loitering" rules, but I think it's more likely that quarters just aren't worth a panhandler's time. (But Heaven forbid that we get rid of the cent!)
Have more brilliant words even been spoken (pre-edit, of course)? Dont worry, though; with text-speak becoming the norm, you'll be okay soon enough.
