I made a thread in the other section about my grandma giving me some coins (here) Amazingly there was a Hobo nickel!!! I've always wanted one!!. an original too - these coins have been sitting since the 50's at least. This one is a very nice 1914-S. also two 1913-D's , I had so much fun finding out what 'type 1' and 'type 2' were - and that I had both!! (lil green on the type 2 because of bein with some pennies...any way I can get that off?)
I like that hobo nickle. I keep looking at the revers of that type 1 Buffalo and it looks like it has an almost a full horn. Very nice coins, thank you posting the pictures. Lou
Nice looking hobo! I wonder if it is possible to track the artist? That would be a fascinating follow-up...
Hey Jake, where you been. Nice to see you posting again! I like Hobo nickels. I'd love to buy one just to say I have it. But even more I'd like to learn how to make them, if I only had the time.
It was inherited so I can't track the artist but I know it was for sure made pre mid 50's... and from the date and wear, I bet it was alot longer before that... I was so pleasantly suprised to find this
Hey Indianhead, Thanks for noticing my return! Honestly, I have been working all summer. Now that I am back at school I have a little time between classes to check up on my favorite website... I'm looking forward to contributing again.
