Hi Travis, Welcome to Coin Talk. That is a very strange looking coin. Can you post
a photo of the other side?

Thanks for the welcome, alurid it appears to be the standard dime on the back. The edges are slightly more oval than round. I recieved it in change at a local store. I always check the coins out to see if I have any old silver coins and seen this and I am puzzled.

It's not really standard, notice how most of the high points are flattened?

It was pressed in a vice or similar with something having that pattern on the obverse and either a flat piece or the smooth vice jaw against the reverse.

The lines across his face (Indian looking) are raised. In a vice they would be pressed in?

    Well, now, that's certainly interesting.

It has to be PMD (post-mint damage), but it's cool PMD.

That is very odd, the object that made the impression on the Obverse was Incused
with a reverse design so that it made a readable inprint on the coin. This could have been done at some kind of manufacturing company. The lines are aranged in an arc, the middle two are different [at temple] than the rest, indicating some type of Center Mark. I do not believe this was done at the Mint.

It has been stamped with some kind of die after it left the mint. I see what appears to be a sunburst and either NO CENIE or NO GENIE. There may be another letter missing in the middle.
