Here're some pictures of the "better" finds. Are any worth sending for grading? What about cleaning? Should I leave them as-is, or attempt some cleaning? Thanks!

Shake it in a jar, it will come apart on it's own. These retail for about $30 new.

Do not clean any of them. Once they are circulated, cleaning will leave a porous surface as you remove the dirt/corrosion.

Personally, I don't send anything like that off for grading unless all of the following conditions apply,

    1. I plan to sell it
    2. Authenticity is difficult for a layperson to casually ascertain
    3. It's worth significantly more than the grading fee.

Don't know about 1 in your case, but I'm pretty sure 2 and 3 don't apply.

Nevertheless, that was an awesome find.

Wow, that's awesome. One day maybe I can hit the jackpot. I searched on box of quarters last night. Well I shouldn't say searched, I open it and saw that it was full of 2007 statehood quarters. Half way through a box of dimes. Nothing yet, but I'll let you know.

I kept hearing about people finding stashes such as this, and never believed it'd happen to me... I figured I'd be bound to find a roll at some point, never thought it'd be this much, though..

One box of nickels, here, too. In the five or so boxes I've searched, no buffs as of yet...

    But one 1945-S and 23 pre-1960 nickels...

Besides pennies (and state quarters and new nickel designs), I've yet to find any coins from a "previous" generation from bank rolls... (e.g. wheaties v. Lincoln Memorial, buffalo v. Jefferson, Franklin v. Kennedy halves, etc...) How often are the "older" coins found in circulation?

    The search continues...

and to think I was ecstatic to find 11 Franklins, 1 Walking Liberty, and 2 64's in a single box yesterday.

I think it's time for you to buy the walking liberty and Franklin books. Nothing like showing off your Whitman and proclaiming that every coin in there was found from circulation and you only paid face value for them.

Been trying to fill out my Lincoln penny and Jefferson nickels sets so I've been going through quite a few rolls. Wheat pennies are getting harder to find, I've been averaging about one wheat for every two rolls. But my best find was this past weekend. Going through a roll of Jeffersons I find a 1936 Canadian nickel and a 1943-P wartime nickel. Both in the same roll!

Was this in a bank-rolled box, or just a box of coin the bank bought back? I've been through 4 boxes of (what I think are) CWI-rolled halves, and found a 1976-S Proof, a 2002/2003, and 2 40% Kennedy's, but that was all. I've been rather disappointed with the boxes I've ordered thus far..

I got the Franklin and Kennedy books on the way, but with only three total Walking Liberties in my stash, it wouldn't make much sense to get a book -- yet.

No idea what was said, but I can certainly use my imagination -- and it sounds pretty much like my reaction after seeing the first roll, then opening a second roll much like the first...

I picked up another thousand in halves this morning, no similar luck... I'm pretty sure I exhausted most, if not all, the luck allotted to me, however.. :)

It was a box of machine wrapped rolls, but not from CWI.

I waited until I had about 5 rolls of walkers and franklins before I bought the books. Don't know why I bought volume 1 so early as I only have two coins in it, but the volume 2 and the franklin book are about halfway filled. As there are no truely scarce franklins, I'm hoping that I will eventually fill it solely with coins found from circulation. I don't know if I will make it with volume 2 of the walking liberties, but I think it will be close.

those are some awsome finds! someone must have cashed in a collection a long time ago, or they must have been sitting there awhile. about that 1989 magic half, give it a hard throw on the ground where the seam is, and another coin, most likly a meican coin will come out. :high5:

I recently searched six $25 boxes of pennies (15,000 coins) and found 38 wheats. That’s a prevalence of 2.53 wheats per 1,000 pennies (0.25%). The maximum number I found in a single box was nine, the minimum number was five. Almost all of the wheats I found were from the 50’s and late 40’s. One was from 1941, and one was from 1918. I also found 10 Canadian King George’s dated from 1938-52. The most surprising coin I found was a 1984 penny from South Africa!
