I love it when Fedex brings me 'gifts'. While this pile is certainly no Barry Murphy Aureii 'pile' it is still fun. I worked up most of the Republican in the lot before I decided to take a pic and share. The kid in me just has so much fun with these!
Excellent idea, but a cheaper one is what I did for my son some years ago. I exchanged the Monopoly set money with genuine currency. All crisp new bills from around the world in the appropriate denominations. Its a blast to play with! Only cost me about $150, but I was flush at the time. Sold the excess notes on Ebay and recovered about a third of the cost.
So many Gordian III coins. Shut up and take my money. I will be watching your store like a hawk to see what Gordie III delights you'll be posting for sale.
Yes, and no. While I am a dealer and most things I buy are later sold I truly love the coins that I have, even if it is temporarily. As such I want to show them off as much as anyone does (though there is a not so fine line between showing and advertising). Sometimes I feel its better to be a dealer. I can at the least own many things I normally could never afford to (though for a short time). I always have my database of photos, so I can go back and give some love to those that have passed through to other homes. I just love the hobby. I have handled some amazing coins in my time and hope to handle much more. Even those coins which I consider to be my 'collection' I hope to sell off some day before I pass into oblivion (get a copy of Marcus Aurelius's Meditations, he has some to say about that!).
