There may have been a little smoothing when the coin was cleaned. It looks like it may have been pretty crusty at some point. I wouldn't get neurotic about it - it's fine. Just enjoy it.
Well if you must, there are gouges around the head, both on the obverse and reverse, but it looks like cleaning to me. Probably the coin was very crusty.
I'll be contrary. It looks to me like the devices have been outlined in order to make them stand out better. Still, however, I would take this coin any day.
