I just picked this coin up. The coin is common dollar and it is an Ok looking coin. The pic not that great & it is already slab by NGC. I did look it up on Vam world because it is pitted on the OL, there are other Vam that I am not sure of. Also there is die clash by the obverse on the lips.
It looks like it could possibly be the VAM-4b. Can you take a closer shot of in front of the lips and above BUS of PLURIBUS?
The obverse is what is holding me back. It does look like it might have the rim cud that is on some 4b's. That's what made me think the 4b.
Yes it is very toned and hard to see but I did see it with the magnifier and so since it is in the holder it is very hard to see even trying to get it closer again cause the dark toned on the coin
Here it is again but it is very But again very hard to see. I will try again later if I can get a better pic, but for now this is what I got.
I'm still at 4b. But I would like to point out that the 4 in the date appears to be filled. Would this be enough of a die state change to warrant a new VAM designation to possible 4c filled 4? Calling the heavy VAM'ers, @Cascade, @messydesk, @SuperDave, @heavycam.monstervam, @Dave Waterstraat
I know that the 4b remains 4b with or without the rim cud, but I would think the combination of rim cud and a filled digit might be enough to go 4c.
I will say no, only because the description on the 4b page mentions some specimens display a filled 4. I love sounding all edumucated
I read some where on the 04 page or maybe a listing that filled fours are no longer listable. I was actively collecting 04-O VAMs for a while and will say it's a fun series to collect with a many interesting varieties.
Man, I kept looking it over and over and my eye's just did not catch the filled 4. But now that you mentioned it, I see it now.. I think you just edited the description. LOL.
There's only one image here where one can see what might be the prominent letter clash of 4B; the others don't seem to show it at all. 4B is first and foremost a strong double clash, and we should be able to see its' artifacts more clearly. It's also a strongly rotated clash set; the neck clash on top of the wing is farther to the left than most Morgan clashes. We need to see the wing under In. 4A (which is where I'm at with it for the moment) will only have a single clash there; 4B will have two.
4B. None of the pictures show the clashed I, but the rim cud shows up only on VAM 4B. Also, there's a mess of clashing in front of Liberty's mouth on 4B, and I can see that.
