U.S A. 2/- 1779 Continental Currency Hartford Connecticut I know absolutly nothing else about this one!! I think it is genuine but I cant say for sure, even if it is not I dont mind LOL Please have a look by following the link in my sig, Any and all info greatfuly recieved
I think it is genuine, but it may be pieces from more than one note. The pieces have been glued to a second piece of paper to provde a support but the pieces do not appear to fit together. This may be a case where someone has assembled a note out of framents he had of other notes. The fragments by themselves were worthless so they pieced then together to try and create a single whole note that they could pass.
Thanks Condor I have had confirmation from another collector that it is genuine & worth about $20 in this condition which is great news for me I only paid 50c aprox for it LOL Under the microscope the front is a all one piece and looks like it was slit across the center then added to the backing!
DeOrc.... Glad you got some info..I know nothing on the Continential Issues.. Cool let us know... RickieB
The one I have was glued to an old newspaper clipping with notices about runaway slaves, etc. I could look at these (and have all there was) as I'm originally from that area.
Steve - That's a neat note and the price was certainly worth it! Nice addition to your growing collection. Darryl
