Hey gang, I meant to post these after the expo but life kind of went sideways for a bit. When i got home from the expo i found out that my brother, who had been suffering from end stage liver cancer, had his prognosis downgraded from 2-3 months to 2-3 days. I dropped everything and spent the next 4 days at my parents house. Paul passed in the early morning hours of 5/10 At the same time I had started feeling under the weather while in NH ( I survived the same liver cancer 2 years ago with a liver transplant) and the cough and shortness of breath increased during those same four days. On the afternoon of 5/10 I checked in to the ER of Milton Hospital. They transported me within the hour to Beth Israel Medical Center in Boston where I spent the next week, being released on 5/17. Anyhoo, I stepped out of my Roman Imperial wheelhouse and ended up buying 15 small greek bronzes. Thew were priced prety cheap ( under $20 ea., average) so I figured i couldn't go wrong. Here are the first five.
OMG, an non-smoothed non-tooled Bosporus bronze! How rare and refreshing!! I love it (the envelope pictured beside the coin belongs to a different coin). A wonderful group of coins. Congrats ... Oh wow-- I skipped the written part and jumped straight to the coins and only now read the post. I'm so sorry for what you're going through.
Hey Ziggy, I'm very sorry to hear about your brother. Here's hoping for your health and well-being. Nice set of coins. I have one of those Bosporan bronzes. Mine has a glossy patina, very tough to image. These coins have a goodly amount of lead in the bronze alloy, giving them a distinct look and feel, not to mention that the busts are aliens! @ziggy9 I'm so sorry to hear about your brother and our prayers tonight will focus on you and your family. But I'm also glad you made it trough your ordeal and are back among us. Looks like you did well if each coin was under $20. Take care JW
My condolences on the loss of your brother. I'm also glad you're out of the hospital and I hope you continue to recover. Interesting coins at a bargain! I love it!
Sorry to hear about your brother and glad to hear your feeling better. Congrats on getting a good score on those coins.
Man, I'm very sorry to hear about your brother. I wish good health and lot's of coin collecting in your future. Those are all cool little coins, but yeah...that bosporus coin is AWESOME.
As already stated above, I am very sorry to hear of your brother's passing and sorry to hear that you're also battling cancer (I've been through it myself, so I know what you're going through) Despite your hardships it's nice to see that you've treated yourself to a few cool coins (congrats on the sweet new bronze additions) Ummm, here are a few of my relevant-enough examples ... Deepest condolences, Ziggy. It sounds like it's been a very challenging couple of weeks. Wishing you a full recovery and better days ahead. As everyone else has said... great coins and what sound like great prices. The Bosporan kingdom coin is fantastic!
So sorry to hear about your brother's passing, Ziggy. My most sincere condolences. I am also a 'survivor' after having been diagnosed in 2015 with not one, but two different cancers. Both very aggressive. Doctors said back then 'you must be operated right away, or else....' After two OP's and many weeks in the hospital I am doing fine now, and enjoying life, my family, my coins and many walks in the woods. I am even jogging again and doing some light athletics. I am fighting back. Enjoy your new coins, the all look really nice. Most of all, enjoy every day and your family to the fullest.
Man Zig, that's rough, my condolences and prayers to ya'. But the coins are wonderful, glad your coming to the Dark Side!
