I would have to agree on this. The coin in the slab, if real, is a VF.

That one is kind of scary. It looks pretty real in the pic. The seller is honest enough to say it's altered but the next may not be quite so kind.

woah that's crazy. If that 3 leg buffalo is altered they did a great job. The grain of the coin even runs consistent. Though, if anyone is selling ANY coin and puts "i believe it may be altered" followed by "NO RETURNS" i'm not buying it. Chances are he KNOWS it's altered because he did it. But, at least he's covering his own a** with that statement.

Okay, just went back through this guys history. Checked his negative feedback.

One was on an 1884S Morgan. He has it graded MS66 "Proof Like" Coin had 45 bids and sold at 6,300 bucks.

First red flag in this auction. Coin is MS66 Proof Like and is professionally graded.
    Number two. It's on EBAY.
Three (and the biggest). It's in a FREAKIN 2X2.

If you had an 1884S Morgan that was MS66, would you have it in a 2x2?

People that buy this crap without actually HOLDING and SEEING the coin in person are FOOLISH and have TOO MUCH MONEY. They deserve to be ripped off for that kind of stupidity.

I also love his "PLEASE READ BEFORE BIDDING" section that you have to pull your loupe out to read.

Altering coins like that is counterfeting, plain and simple. Even if your slab says altered, it is against Federal Regulations. This guy should be investigated by the Feds. This is a serious breach of law!

Could be but unfortunately ebay (and others like Overstock) are full of this.

No, it's not counterfeiting. And it's not even illegal. It is certainly unethical.

Sure is IF you can prove that in doing so he intended to commit fraud. Since he indicates that it may be altered it would be difficult to prove fraudulent intent and therefor it is NOT illegal.

    Hi,
I just thought everyone should know that King-O-Coins has changed his eBay ID to: booksandstampsmore and made his feedback private. I have been ripped off by him before and have since been watching him closely. I am scanner69 and posted a webpage showing my coin and giving all the details of the deal with him. I also post on eBay discussions.

I did not sell this coin. Coin was not paid for, I did not accept payment. You can contact the winner if you like.

I am now out of the business, and it is my sincere apology for all the confusion.

I am embarrassed at my ignorance, and I should not have started dealing so soon. I have only been collecting for a few years.

Chris, you were not ignorant when you bought a "replica" 1921-D Walker in AU and then artificially toned it, then sold it as " Genuine " MS-63

You were downright fraudulent. If not for the work of this board and some kids in my coin club, you would still have the money and still be doing it.

    Absolutely wrong.

That 21-D looked genuine to me. And I have no damn idea how to artificially tone a coin. Absolutely no idea. How ca you claim that I artifically toned a coin??

You are dead wrong on both accounts.

But the buyer has been refunded, and that is the bottom line.

I'm going to tell everybody - be careful in this thread. Watch what you say and how you say it. The rules apply just like they always do. You will treat him with repsect just like anybody else. And if it gets out of line I'll close it down in a heartbeat. After I hand out the infractions.
