There is this occational larger than normal coin show at Countryside, Illinois on September 6, 7, 8 and 9th. The 6th is usually for dealer set ups though. Friday and Saturday from 10 AM to 6 PM. Sunday from 10 AM to 3:30 PM. Not sure yet about me going on Friday but for sure on Saturday and Sunday. As for the starting times, as usual I'm sure there wil be people there at least a half hour early and be let in. Parking is free. Entrance is free. The add they sent me says Saturday Seminars and Free Youth Auctions. This one is about double the size of the normal monthly one there. Hopefully the coffee is better than in the past. If you are planning on going, I'll be there for sure on Saturday and Sunday. Still not sure about Friday. Maybe we should be wearing a name tag that says Coin Talk. but I'm sure someone would come up to us and say coins don't talk.
I am go9nna try to be there as well. I might be working behind my brother's table. I'll try to let ya know on Saturday.
Coins may not talk, but they can speak volumes just the same. Carl, if you happen upon any details on the youth coin auction, please let me/us know. Always looking for ideas to get more YNs into the hobby.
I will be there, I am doubting making saturday and sunday, but most likely saturday due to the longer time
carl can you give me a few details like web site etc or address i will have tot ake public transporation to get there from rosemont
That is a good idea...I may be going with Cody and sure would like to meet some forum members. :high5:
Many coin shows have you fill out name tags. I will usually have my name on the tag, along with Shortgapbob in parenthesis. I use that name on all boards, and I have struck up a number of conversations with people as a result of it.
That is a tuff one. I don't think there is a Pace Buss that goes there. It is all the way South on Manheim Road until it becomes LaGrange Road in LaGrange. The show is on Joliet Road, about 1 block West of LaGrange Road on the South side of the street. Try asking on these forums if anyone lives near you and wants to share transportation. I really don't think there is a public transportation method to get there. Sorry.
I know for sure I'll be there Saturday morning. I'll be the old guy usually sitting at the Robert Griffiths table about in the middle of the place. He usually has about 3 tables, has some of his kids helping, if you call what the do help. I wonder around and then go there to rest being old. He is a nice guy and lets me do that. Some of the other dealers also let me rest at their tables. At the far left, about in the middle, last row, there is a guy and his wife. I sit and talk to them also. Always spot me by the blue/black camera looking bag over the shoulde. Not full of coins, medical supplies. Like I said, I'm old. If I like this show, I'll go back Sunday. Always early as about 8:30AM.
Someone posted a Pace route 330. You may want to contact Pace or make a new post right here asking if anyone knows other information or wants to car pool.
carl I will see you there, I hope I remember to look for you blue and black bag, I don't know how you will recognize me.. I just pitched the goatee yesterday other than that fate will decide. I will go at least one day but want to try for both days, no friday for me tho. If there's name tags I will put Spider on it but if there isn't, I do not know what to do
Don't forget if your going there any day, try to get there early. At the front table there are usually many free coin magazines like Coin World and they are free. But they go fast. One jerk I saw took a stack of them and ran out to his car. Probably sells them. If none on the top of the table you may see boxes under the table full of them but ask the guard at the door if OK to get some. If your first coin show there, I would like to warn you about the coffee. It is, well, not to good.
Carl, I don't know how many kids go, but I am 5' 10'', not too fat or too skinny, brown hair and always have a serious look on my face when it comes to coin shopping. I gotta take care of those walker keys this weekend, if not I will hunt down my first gold coin or the majestic 09 S VDB
