Well, heck, after building a bunch of toner Washington and Franklin Danscos, it seems appropriate to build some other albums, including a toner Lincoln Dansco. I must say, I do enjoy the toning that Lincolns can pick up over time. One of the nice things about coin collecting is that you get to make the decisions about how you're going to put together your collection. I'm not particularly motivated to get every Lincoln date and mm, but do plan on getting at least one coin from every year for the Wheaties. At this point I'm just getting Memorial cents up through 1982. At one point in the past I owned a (rattler) MS64RB 1909-S VDB, so I'm not particularly feeling the need to get a raw one now. I've got two P mint VDB's, so I'll just stick the extra one in the '09-S VDB slot. Just wondering, which of these two VDB's do you prefer, or do you like/dislike them both? I like them both, but lean towards one, and will put it in the P VDB slot. The images are by Bob Campbell, and I think he did an excellent job.
I'm not a huge fan of either one myself. Given the streaking of the toning on the obv of both it makes me think that something, a liquid, was spilled or accidentally got onto the coins before the toning occurred, thus casing that toning pattern. And if I had to guess, I'd say that both of those coins came from the same collection at some point. And that whatever accident occurred, happened to both at the same time.
I'm not feeling it for either coin but if you twisted my arm I'd be forced to choose number 2 to keep you from breaking my arm.
