OMG OMG OMG! 1928 Peace Dollar!

Very nice Peace Dollar. Alot less than I paid for mine. Im still hoping to run into some people to offer me a deal like that.

Haha, well I actually thought it was a 1928S when I bought it, so I was quite surprised to say the least when I got home, the same goes for the 1916 S Walking Liberty half =p

Nope. I honestly don't care for Peace dollars that much...so I just glanced at the dates and paid about 13 bucks a piece because they were in relatively good condition....However, I did see that the Walking Liberty half was a rare date, a 1916D. However, when I got home I saw there was a variety for the 1916D in the Cherrypicker's guide....so out comes my loupe and lo and behold, it's a 1916S!! So there's how I made two mistakes that benefited me to the tune of $350+ =)

I think this situation may make an interesting discussion for one of those ethics questions.

 

Yeah, I was about to take offense at this, but I decided it wasn't worth it. I know I didn't deliberately try to rip anyone off and I know I gave them a lot more than they would have gotten if they had gone to the coin shop where they wanted to go, so in the end, we both made off better than we would have otherwise.....

 

If that justification works for you; great. We each have to decide how we live our lives and I wouldn't begin to tell you how to live yours. Personally, I would go back to them and offer them more money. They might not take it but I think they would appreciate the jesture and I know my grandmother would.

If I had bought a bunch of coins from a flea market and made these discoveries later ..my gain. If I had bought them at a yard sale ...my gain. If I had bought them at auction... my gain. When my family is involved, I step it up and tend to go the extra mile. I may not have any obligation to but that's just the way I was raised.

i'd go back and give them at least $150 for the peace, and $40 for the walker if they need the money.
