Opinions on this 1870-S Seated Half

    this will be heading in when I get another submission ready for grading.

    Just curious what the community thinks about it.

    I like the coin. It looks like it may have been subject to an old cleaning and has re-toned.

    I absolutely concur there is a legacy cleaning in this coin's history. What I don't know is at what age these no longer get the Details label for that cleaning. I assume there's some approximate age at which the line is crossed, but I have no idea where it is. I would like it for lower AU-ish money (for the reason of that old cleaning). I do hope it net grades at a solid number grade.

    Following a line directly left (heading 9 o'clock) from her chin, there appears to be a scratch(?) that looks like an arrow pointing to the third star from the right. I'm under the same impression about an old cleaning. I would say it's AU and a nice looking coin

    AU53 not sure it has been cleaned??

    Low to mid AU. Most likely cleaned but not harshly. I think the tpg'ers should OK it. Attractive.

    I don't have it in front of me to view, but this is the other picture I have for it. It doesn't appear in the picture but that doesn't mean much.
