rick from what i gather especialy in a country like the usa, old settlements that you can find off old library maps or history books would be best, im sure the research will pay for itself big
me im gonna take my metal detector to the area around battlefields i bet a lot of soldiers buried there coinage/ or died with it on the areas around the battlefields.prob much better chance than the battlefield itself which pron been done many times. gonna go to my bros and go onto culloden battlefield which is where the last battle between the scots and english was.bet there is plenty of civil war battlefields ect to try in usa too, but like i said i aint gonna do the battlefield but the woodlands and forests around it
Highlander you really getting my interest in this metal detector. I like your idea of avoiding battle sites and instead look at areas outside of potential battle encampments where soldiers might have buried their prized possessions before going to arms. Research, deduce, hunt. pretty cool.
As with anything, research will lead to better results. The east coast of America is littered with jewelry and shipwrecks. While most is still buried out at sea, many items have been pushed to the beach over the centuries. This is where a good metal detector comes in. Most of the battle sites are federally protected, so keep that in mind. Local libraries are a fabulous tool for the detectorist. Remember that most urban legends are based in some fact.
well im having a bid on another one now, not one of the main names but its cheap enough seems to have all the right credentials ie discrimination and depth indicator ect. i just cant justify spending over 1000 usd for a minelab untill im a completely devoted detectorist so will spend 70 usd and see how it goes
