1974 D penny date thicker compared to others of same date!

    When comparing these two coins of the same date, I noticed one coin date is so much thicker than the other. I tried to find info on it but didn't find anything. Why are they so different ?

    It looks like the "97" is doubled.

    That is DDD. The line splitting the nine is evidently from the die polishing in the field.

    @Pickin and Grinin @Pocket-change. Thanks for the info. Is this a valuable coin ? Or just a neat find?
    Die-deterioration doubling is a new area to me.

    DDD usually adds no value. Put it in a 2x2 and keep it for learning purposes.
