Any bonus that comes with being a supporter of this site is nice, but at the end of the day supporting a great site like this is just the right thing to do.

Why didn't one of you know it alls say something about this supporter stipulation the other day when I was carping about not being able to post pix of my favorite coin for the contest? And don't say I didn't ask.

I do believe it would be nice if the software generated a PM when the Supporter status was about to expire or even if it just turned your banner red for the last week of your membership. I never notice when it goes away until something does not work an then we have to ask TIF how it is we do the update.

It doesn't cost much to run a site + the money just lines the pockets of some guy who I have never even seen post here.

There are many better causes to donate to (good charities etc..)

or is there anther reason to donate?

No one in this conversation was in the contest conversation (you're in the ancients forum here - we don't tend to venture outside much). I looked up your post and you were having difficulty posting in a regular forum topic, which is also not the same as what Nemo is talking about here. What's the difficulty you are having?

Nice addition Brian! I love it when the coin comes in better than expected. I had one from JA recently that beat my expectations.

@Nemo, I believe that you can upload files to your media on this site and then embed them in a conversation. Takes a few more steps but it works.

I just noticed because of this thread that the ancients group seems to have a higher percentage of active participants that are supporters. Very cool

For those that "demand" answers. I understand the frustrations. However, most of us are not Moderators. We are truly people behind the computer screens. You get a lot more help when you use "honey vs. vinegar"...

I take the approach of: how would I talk with and interact with a person if we were truly face-to-face, vs. the anonymity of a computer screen.

As a "know-it-all" I find this post to be offensive. All of us here were trying to help you out.

Are the owners of the site supposed to run it as a charitable endeavor for your personal entertainment?

@arnoldoe, I'm flabbergasted by your comments in this thread. Are you saying that you feel there is a cap on how much money the owner of this site should be allowed to make?

    Dangerous ground, my friend.

I willingly pay the supporter fee because I get far more than my money's worth in entertainment and knowledge. I'd like for the site to continue to thrive. The platform is the best of all coin forums. I do not know if their ad revenue covers hosting and maintenance nor is it any of my business.

Actually the forum software used, XenForo, costs money (a few hundred a year at least, IIRC, possibly more depending on what features are licensed), as does server rental and many people, myself included, browse with adblockers, so there is no ad revenue. If after paying for that the owner makes a little money I don't think that's a bad thing. The price is less than any coin I've purchased in the past 2 years so I think for the entertainment value alone it's more than worth it.

NEWS FLASH! If the owners don't make enough to cover the site's expenses, their time and to make -- heaven help us! -- a profit, why shouldn't they just shut it down?

I fail to understand why those who find this or any other site completely worthless and not worth 'supporting' would want to waste their time looking at it, complaining about it or telling us how you would do it. If you think you can make this experience better for all concerned with constructive criticism, great. That is how we got our separate ancients forum. If your only reason for being here is to be unhappy, feel free to lessen your suffering and go away.

One thing is for certain: The only reason I am here and spend any time reading and writing replies is that my 100 favorite people here are located an average of 5000 miles from here. I would love to host a coin discussion party and invite those who post regularly and live in places I will never visit (including some I could not spell). I have been a member of ancient coin clubs with meetings once a month where members drove up to 100 miles to get there. Now, we play by different rules. I have actually met face to face with about half a dozen of you and recall once when there were three of us in the same room at the same time. I support the fact that our new ways allow me to attend the club meetings even when they held at Zumbly's place (too far) or Steve's (too cold) or even across the generation gap that separates me from some of you. The money I am saving on gas to drive to meetings makes being a Supporter such a deal!

Pardon me. I was poking fun by 'know it all', the post was meant to be facetious. However I don't see anywhere that all of you are here trying to help me out. Lighten up!

Okay, I will; however, when I looked back at all the posts prior to the "know-it-all" posts, I only see posters trying to help out. Anyway, we can all just lighten up and enjoy CT the way it's meant to be.

Thanks, I didn't know CT had separate forums. Guess I'm not very familiar with it at all. I think I've solved the picture posting problem. Thanks a lot.
