I happened to make it to one of the local coin shows today in Hagerstown, MD and I was just amazed at the amount of people that show up 30 minutes before the door opens...wow. Once inside I made my usual 2-3 trips around the room before buying anything. I managed to snag a very nice 1921-D Mercury Dime in Fine grade for $170 dollars. I also grabbed a few 1858 Flying Eagle cents, small and large letters and a slew of silver Washington Quarters. A pretty good day in all.

Very nice, that show in Hagerstown, is that the one they held in the basement of the hotel?

    Hey Indianhead,

I too was at the Hagerstown show yesterday. Only picked up 6 nickels. Spent only about 1 hour there from 1:30 - 2:30. Nice little show, I try to make it there each summer and winter show, though most of these dealers are at the other shows I attend.

I went to that show once.
    Very nice mid-sized show.

It's a bit of a drive for me, so I stick mostly to the shows in the DC/Baltimore area.
Show of about the same size as Hagerstown will be at Northern Virginia Community College (NOVA) 7-9 Sept.
    I'll be at that one.

Almost all the dealers at the Hagerstown show will be there as well. I've been to the Northern VA show once this is a fairly new show 2nd year I think. Maybe it has grown! Had plenty of space for growth unlike the Vienna show.

Yeh, you almost can't move at the Vienna show.
If it weren't for my main dealer being there, I probably wouldn't go.
But the BIG shows at the Baltimore Convention Center are the ones to attend.
    Two or three a year.

Hey nickelman, Sorry I missed you there. I was there from 10 am to about 12:30. I guess you really wouldnt have known who I was anyway. I go there and usually buy from 2 or 3 different dealers who I like. Maybe some of us that live in the area can get together at the Hagerstown show in the spring.

A long, long time ago I used to try to get to coin shows when they advertised the opening time. Regardless of when I got there, there was always people inside. So I started going earlier and earlier. I wonder sometimes if people go there the night before and sleep there.

I while back in another coin show post I said I should get a hat or t-shirt that says cointalk.org Nickelman and see if anyone from the forum comes up to me and says hey. Never have got around to doing it though. Maybe in the future.
