hi everybody! me and my mom went to a town gathering this evening where there are food, rides, and vendors. we first started looking at the vendors. nothing special at first, but we got up to a booth where this guy was putting turkey feathers in a picture frame, and he put a indian head cent, a dateless buffalo, and a sac dollar right next to it. it sounds odd, but it was neat. anyway, i saw the coins, picked up the frame, and started looking at the coins inside. there were about 5 frames, so i looked at every coin inside. nothing special, just a 2000P sac, dateless buffalo, and a 1907 cent inside each one. he asked my mom if i liked coins, and she said i was a collector. he said are you interested in buying? i said yes, and he pulled a bunch of coins from his bag. there wasn't much, just alot of stuff i needed! so i looked through it all, and found what i wanted. he said he had a bunch more at home, but he had nobody to watch his tent. his wife said he had to sell all of his coins too. so i bought a americana series coin set thing in a plastic display case. it came with a 1905 indian head cent, 1905 liberty nickel, 1912S half, 1907O quarter, and a 1912D dime. i got this for $20. i got a 1883 no cents v nickel for $5, 1909 dime for $2, 1912D dime for $2, 1916 dime for $2, 1913 ? dime for 50 cents!, a 1911D dime for $2, 1895 half for $9, 1896,1883,1898,1894,1887,1885,and 1890 indian head cents for $23 for the lot, a 1915,1893, and a blank quarter whitman blue holder for $5. he had that marked up to $8, but sold it to me for $5.
The quarter really caught my eye too. An old Americana set? If it's what I'm thinking of those go back to when I was much younger than you are now. You used to be able to buy those from the Sears Christman catalogue. I still have The President hanging on my wall. Was a gift from my mother when I was 13 or 14. All BU coin with the Lincoln, Jefferson and Roosevelt being 1975 and the Half, Ike and Quarter being Bi-Centennials. A big framed holder with a large Presidential seal. Just don't see too many of those anymore. Nice haul Coinlover. clembo
That is a fabulous VF-30 IMO, without the digs in the face there in front of the ear I would say XF-40, but still an very very nice coin, I'm green with envy here.
