Thanks for all the pics. I may not be able to them all. Right now I am working on other parts of the site including a F.A.Q. Do you have any questions about Lincoln cents that I might try to answer? Brad www.lincolncentresource.com
Brad, WOW! I learned a lot by looking at your site. I need to go through all my pennies again. That should keep me busy for a month. Thanks and keep up the good work!
The sellers, or the buyers. For every idiot seller out there, look how many buyers have left them positive feedback. "adon enterprises" or "SGS" has over 68000 feedbacks and a 99.2% positive rating. Brad
My Son sells on ebay. He and many of his friends send in great feedbacks on each other and have relatives, other friends, neighbors also do the same. Gee, do you think others may be doing that also?
As mentioned prevously. I suggest you shorten your web site name. Write now it is accessable due to you using this forum but in the future will not be easy to find. People in general when looking for something on the internet will type in a minimum amount of words. I suggest for future ease in finding you shorten the name to something like All Lincoln Cents, All-LincolnCents, Cents-Lincolns, etc. What I mean is use the KISS system. Not to be nasty but this is what my boss always says to me. KISS is the Keep It Simple Stupid system. As to questions you may want to cheat and go to the coppercoins web site and look at all the questions they get there. It is extensive. I'm not saying copy but you could really get a large sample of questions.
In order to leave feedback, you have to buy or sell something. Every time someone buys or sells something, Ebay collects money. Each fake positive feedback would cost money. In order to make money, you have to eventually sell something. I doubt SGS has been faking any of their feedback. They sell coins to new collectors who think they are getting MS70 coins cheap, and those collectors leave positive feedback without getting second opinions. Certainly SGS is a ridiculous company, but they would not exist without the 1000's of buyers who buy their coins. When I started collecting, I would bring every coin I bought off Ebay to a dealer I trust to get a second opinion, then I would leave positive feedback or return the coin. I actually believe that the Ebay's structure is to blame when it comes to high feedback ratings. If you are satisfied with a coin, you leave positive feedback. If you are dissatisfied with a coin, you ask for a refund. You are scared to leave negative feedback for the fear that you will receive the same. They are now using a "detailed seller ranking" system now. I'm curious to see how that affects things. Now I only buy certified coins with a return privilege.
ABON and Scumbag Grading Service Slabbed coin with a return? Have not seen to many of those. I emailed ABON from my buyer acount, asked them how they get all those fancy MS-70 coins, WOW, they must have a great source, lol. Also asked them how much money and time it would take them to find me a set of Lincolns, 1934-1958 all in MS-70 Red. They will get back to me on that !!!:kewl:
1. How to determine fakes or at least a 1914-D from a 1944-D. 2. Some samples of the different grades. You should be able to get the pictures from Heritage. 3. How to determine if a coin has been cleaned. 4. Definitions cameo, deep cameo, brown, red/brown, red, struck through, etc. 5. Wood grain effect. Nice little site. Any idea how many hits you have so far?
Nice ideas. Thanks. I get about 10 hits a day... which is not much, but I have only been on search engines for about two weeks and I am still low. Time will tell. Thanks
I've seen pictures of a supposed 1911 D/S, but in those the S was always south of the D. I've never seen a 1911 D with a cross through the bar like that. It looks a lot like the 1944 D/S. Tell me what else you found. Brad
Brad, I think your on to something. Great site. I'll get better pics ASAP. Have several omm's and rpm's. I'm just now starting to pay attention to this sort of stuff, looks like fun !!
I'm not sure that the quality is good enough for your site, but feel free to use any of my pics here... http://www.coincommunity.org/gallery/thumbnails.php?album=235&page=1 If they are any use to you. Nice site by the way.:thumb: Steve
