I have this 1919 D Buffalo Nickel that looks different from any coin I've seen. It looks a bit too shiny and glossy in a way. Is this a problem coin or what?
I agree that the coin was treated with acid. It may of been a ground recovery coin that was dark and then destroyed with the acid.
I've never seen anything like it.. Probably a good thing. Way too shiny for any struck coin. It sparkles (almost) and looks a bit grainy.
I don't think it's a fake. But the value has been compromised. I wouldn't pay over a dollar or two for this if I needed to fill a hole in a Buffalo book. While a 1919-D in F+ that has not been messed with is a $75 coin. Someone ruined this semi key date buffalo.
I have a 1928 buff. nickel that is not fake I spent hours going over every detail, but it's shiny like a proof coin on steroids.Every detail perfect ms 67 stuff. The thing is no proofs were made of these coins.Im baffled.
