I wonder what Gordie would make of the fact that he would be so popular more than 1,750 years later among people from nations that didn't exist when he was around, and on the other side of the world.

Funny, after I started the whole Gordian III obcession, he seems to have gotten pretty popular here. There's been more posts about his coins in the last 6 months than the previous year and a half.

New coin and Cuban cigars, sounds like a great Saturday night. Can't wait to read the write-up on your new coin. Enjoy the cigars.

No roaches here. Guess I've been doing a good job of keeping all the creepy-crawlies away :D

Like the coin and especially the dark toning on it, Steve!

Yeah...but I'm in no hurry. I only started actively collecting Gordian III about 5 months ago, plus there are plenty of non-Gordian III coins calling my attention. I just got my first siliqua and my 13th Roman Republic denarii. As much as I like Gordian, he is a long term project for me.

As has been pointed out, even the sestertii breed. Some even have roach-colored patina and look like roaches to boot...

Ummm, I have a bit of a confession to make ... it could have been anybody on the obverse => I bought the coin for the awesome $33 price and the sweet toning!!
