The 400 million 2007 Sackies are on the way. http://www.numismaster.com/ta/numis/Article.jsp?ad=article&ArticleId=2710 Don Charters asked Moy if the Mint was deliberately not striking 2007 Sacagawea dollars for circulation in hopes they would be abolished. Moy replied that the full year's production run is scheduled for the autumn.
sac dollar coming in this case the sac dollars is not collectible. 200,000,000 (P) and 200,000,000 (D) for sac mintages.
I have two rolls of the 2000 Sacagawea dollars and they are turning very dark and under magnification I can see a lot of carbon spots. Will only the ends ruin, or will the rest of them do the same? I ask because I am saving the presidential rolls and I do not want the same fate for them. I have been told I should remove them from the paper and put them in coin tubes. They may never have a real value but I wonder if they are moved to tubes will that hurt a future value verse leaving them in the original paper?
It is quite common for the $1 coins to change as you describe because of the composition of the metal. But as is almost always true, the culprit is not the paper but humidity and the air. True, if coupled with humidity the paper can have an even greater effect on the coins. But even if removed from the paper rolls the coins would still darken and some develop the spots as long as the coins are exposed to humidity and the air. Proper storage is the key.
spot on prez dollars after many years of hoarding. what happened if those prez dollars rolls contained spot on its head and tail?. is the price gonna come down in the future?. or just discount a little bit?. let me ask those hoarded a lot of penny way back before?.
My Post Office has already removed its stamp machine, which I regarded as my dollar coin dispenser. :vanish:
Monre dollar production as of Sept 1st (from mint production figures) Denver 55,020,000 Philly 18,200,000
mintage prediction my prediction only: for 2008 dollars: 100 mil.(p) & 100 mil.(d) for each prez. 200 mil.(p) & 200 mil.(d) for sacagawea dollar for 2009 dollars: 100 mil.(p) & 100 mil.(d) for each prez. 80 mil. (p) & 80 mil. (d) for sacagawea dollar
According to the new law the Sackie has to be 20% of the total dollar coin mintage in 2009. If there are 800 million Prez coins minted then there must be 200 million sackies.
thanks in this case, 2009 (p) will have 100 mil for each prez & 100 mil for sacagawea too. and 2009 (d) will also have 100 mil for each prez & 100 mil for sacagawea.
Then they're going to have to stop printing dollar bills. Otherwise they're going to run out of warehouse space. I haven't seen a single Jefferson dollar in circulation, and the single Adams dollar was in a "special" place where they HAD to give them out in change. The rest of the prez series might become extremely rare as no one wants them.
fall 2007 so we are waiting at least 400,000,000 sacagawea dollar on next three months and 200,000,000 james madison by november.2007.
Funny, Sackie production as of Sept. 1st was already 7.56 Million and was before Moy made that statement. I guess we will see.
Elaine was correct, 200 million is 25% of 800 million, not 20%. Then they are going to have to recover and melt down well over 700 million president dollars and not make any Madison dollars. OR they will have to get the law changed PDQ.
iread some wher that a south american country was buy ing sac dollars for circulation and the people loved them. i wonder if our government is actualy selling them for face value or are we giving them away to get rid of them? if they are giving them away they can drop a few truck loads in my yard.
