Beautiful denarius Roman Collector, great coin, I've only got a couple of hers, a Sestertius and denarius both minted after her death dedicating the Temple of Faustina, still standing today in the Roman Forum. And a recent pic of mine showing Faustina temple columns attached to church on left and Romulus temple on the right.

That is a nice denarius of Faustina the Elder, Roman Collector. Both obverse and reverse are well executed and harmonious. One of my few coins of this empress: Diva Faustina I Æ Sestertius. Rome, after AD 141. DIVA FAVSTINA, Obv: bare head right Rev: AVGVSTA, Ceres standing left, holding two torches; S-C across fields. RIC 1174
I have yet to get a denarius of her, but i do have a sestertius that i got a few weeks ago FAUSTINA I AE Sestertius DIVA FAVSTINA, draped bust right AETERNITAS, SC in field, Aeternitas seated left, holding phoenix on globe and sceptre. RIC 1103a 30.43g, 32mm
I waited for a while to find the right left facing portrait of Faustina Senior to match my right facing Pius:
Far from an 'also ran' Steve's is a good example of a lifetime coin . Only one of Bing's here shared that situation. Most of her coins were posthumous. I also believe that AJ's left facer is quite some coin (not just any aureus but a really fine styled one) and probably as close to a suitable mate for his spectacular Pius as we are likely to see. It always makes me feel good when someone posts a coin that was selected rather than just being a quick grab to allow us to check another name off the list. Far too many of my coins are quick grabs but you know you did well when years go by and you don't see a better coin to fill the purpose for which it was acquired.
You can say that again. I'm slobbering with envy AJ's coins are some of the best outside of Museums. It's always a treat to see them.
