1946 D wheat penny

    Found this coin a while ago in my change and it looks very odd. VLDS possibly? The lettering looks too thick to be from normal circulation.

    Looks like 70 years of circulation, but I am no expert and will let the Error Experts reply! If an error, I will learn something as well.

    You have a well worn cent that was cleaned at some point in it's life.

    It's a casualty of having spent too much time rattling around in a clothes dryer. They can spend some time and get away with it. When they spend too much time, that's how they come out.

    I thought that but why does the lettering look so thick and sort of like it's dripping. Like in the B in liberty ito has a spot that sort of droops down

    Oh. Well then that's not a VLDS. It's a VWDC.
