How often do you find a 1974D DDO Kennedy Half?

As I've been going through my boxes of halves for silver, I've been pulling out the 1974Ds then looking at them in search of a DDO. I think that by now I've looked at about 600 1974Ds and (I think) haven't found one yet.

I'm not sure how commonly these are found in circulation - what has your experience been?

And...once you do find them, does is there any market for them? I see a lot of MS on the bay...

    Thanks!

I looked through rolls/bags for years and didn't find any. So I bought a graded one off eBay to just get an idea of what it would look like in hand (this was a looooong time ago, when my Cherrypicker's teeth weren't fully formed.)

As soon as I had it in hand, for whatever reason, I found like 25 over the next few months, as well as a handful of 1977 D DDO. That was in Salt Lake City.

I've never found a single 74D anywhere else.

I have yet to find one... probably have gone through maybe 60 boxes this past 10 months or so. I have found 2 1982-Ps missing the FG though.

Interesting info... So the SLC area appears to be where a lot of them got distributed then.

I've only found one in the wild and the rest I've ever found were in 1974 mint sets.

Good information. Thanks to you all for your replies. Sounds like these are much less common than I thought they were.

I have found (10) 1974-D DDO after searching about 16,000 coins since I started paying attention to this coin. That's only 0.06% success rate. I live in Texas where we get a lot of Denver coins so that probably helped my odds somewhat.

There are somewhere between 251 and 500 out there in total. A rarity rating of URS-10.

This shows the PCGS population to be over 800.
I am sure many more have not been graded, or graded by other companies.
There are probably thousands of these 1974-D DDO, still rare.
