My Gold error coin grades posted... why did they not call them errors?

Am I Mistaken? Is this not the 1st thread that has dealt with pre-1933 U.S. Gold coins in MONTHS!? If so....why is that? I have just recently got bit by the "gold Bug" and would love to see some discussions regarding those incredible coins. What say you?

Called PCGS this morning (took forever for them to answer), and she said they usually give the reason it is not an error in the notes. She looked it up, and said there were no notes on it, so would have to do more research. I got to thinking, and remembered that pcgs had to break up a larger submission into 2 after I sent it in (4 error coins total, but one was already graded, I was just having them add the error). I also called and had them add retro holders after they had already received them. Maybe these 2 situations somehow caused a mistake in house and they overlooked that they were supposed to be error submissions?

I was just informed that the graders said they were not errors. To which I ask, why did they say the other ones I posted were errors, when it is the exact same error?? PCGS has lost my business forever if this can't be fixed.

If mine is not an error, neither are these:

Fred responded and said he never saw them in hand. I thought pcgs had him look at all errors? He confirmed the 1927 and 1925-D were errors, and said he would have to look at the 1910 in hand. How do I get pcgs to re-evaluate these, and get the right people looking at them this time?

I think I would keep calling them and remain on the phone until they do something about this. You paid for a service in which they failed to provide. It's really easy for a customer service rep to say whatever the they want. I would become an irate customer until I get moved up the phone tree. Sounds like they messed up and now they are giving you the lip treatment.

Ask for names each and every time you call. Make a phone/call log. Time and date and person.

Maybe a dumb question/point, but with all PCGS errors, you have to send them in separately under the Mint Error tier. $60 a coin I think. If you try to do it under the variety tier, then Fred Weinberg doesn't even look at them. A lot of people have made this mistake and continue to do so, mainly because NGC has a tier that combines Mint errors and Varieties. We saw the reverse happen with Rare Tim when he sent his variety coins as Mint Errors. They emailed him and had him authorize the changes and pay for the variety attribution. So all that said, did you specifically send them in under the Mint Error tier?

He can't possibly look at every error, and these are common errors, so that response makes sense.

I think they'll fix it once they figure out how to save face.

Mark Stephenson, the vice president, sent me a message on the other board asking me to send them back in. Hopefully they ca get to the right hands this time!

Got both packages today, the toners and the errors. Both were pcgs secure in retro label. The toners are correct, but the errors are not only missing the error designation, but also the secure shield logo on the holders. Weird.

Mark is a really good guy. If there was a mix up, as it appears there might have been if no shield was on them and they went secured too, he'll get it sorted out.

I bet pcgs gets a dozen calls a day about unattributed varieties and errors of the rare-tim type. They probably have a pre-written response for which the customer service reps respond.

physics-fan3.14 You got any more of them.... prooflikes?

To be fair, a retained cud and struck through grease aren't really errors worth mentioning on a holder..... just my opinion. I understand that you want it, and that you paid for it, but I think PCGS messed up by putting it on those other ones in the first place.

Glad you got it all worked out satisfactorily, though.
