I am trying to finish my penny books and I have two 1982 d copper pennies. I'm having a hard time with these two because the height of the dates seem off. Would like some input as to if this is an error.
Welcome to CT. I also had a problem for a while telling these apart. Lets look at the "2" in the date. Notice how the bottom of the 2 in both pictures looks fat. This is a sign of a Large date. Both of your coins are. For small date the bottom of the 2 would be noticeably skinnier and farther away from rim. Check out this link for more info as their are other markers to look for. http://lincolncentresource.com/smalldates/1982.html Hope this clears things up a little for ya. I can post photos of both varieties as well if this helps you. Just ask.
Thanks for the response. I'm getting better at telling the differences in size however why does the 19 part of the date in the first picture look crooked?
Not sure what you mean about the 19. The easiest way for me to tell in the 82 is the shape of the 2. Whether it is large or small.
