how much are penny blanks worth? i found one some years back and didnt know where it was for the longest but i found it in some penny tubes i have
Fun find. That at least is the first real error out of the stuff I've seen you post. I've seen those go for a buck or so.
There are 2 stages you need to know about - Blank - Is when the long sheets of metal, in your case copper, are first cut. They are completely flat all around the edge. This is called a Type 1 Blank Planchet - After the Blanks are cut they go through what is called the Upsetting Process, this gives the Blank the raised rim look. Now it is called a Type 2 Planchet Here are the examples from my collection -
Copper and Copper Plated Zinc Blank Plachets.. They don't carry a huge premium. I would say like $3 - $5 dollars Unless you can find one like a 1943 Steel Blank Planchet From my collection - $40 -$75
Copper and Zinc planchets are still given away by the mint every year so ther isn't a huge premium associated withe them
