I was thinking $90-$120 based off of the 2016 Whitman red book. A 1909s VG-8 . Any input would be appreciated.
I am far, far, far from an expert grader, but have been trying to learn & study more lately. Having said that, I would have placed it more in the F-12 to F-15 range based on the wear to the face, wheat and condition of the lettering. Please let me know if there are some tell tale signs I am missing that point to a lower grade.
Welcome to CT!! The RedBook is great for US coin information, but it should not be used as a price guide. Try doing a search on eBay sold listing for the same coin around the same grade for more accurate pricing.
Thank you for the welcome. Looking at the eBay sold listings searching 1909 Wheat Penny f-15 there is quite a variance. All the way from 65 up to around 135. I have sold quite a few things on eBay and have noticed that for the most part I am getting around 20 percent less than what retailers sell the same merchandise for. I have taken as much as 45 percent less on the value of coins in the Redbook. But have done better than I would have thought on other things.
