1963 British One Penny Possible Error?

    I'm a newb when it comes to coins. While cleaning out my aunt's house I found a bunch of old coins, including this penny piece. I think it has been damaged, but I would love it if someone more knowledgable would take a look, and if it is damaged explain how.
    The coin in question is on the left, and is pictured next to an earlier example from the same series.

    Someone took it to a grinding wheel. Weigh them, you'll see a difference.

    Yup. My kitchen scale shows a 1-2 gram difference between the two. I do wonder what's with the lines tho.
