The face of the coin is almost perfectly smooth. Only the dot or bump in the middle has any texture. Fingernails can't feel the LIB of Liberty or In God We Trust. The reverse is quite worn but all the info is still there. There is no rim to speak of. I think it's quite curious how it seems to flow to/from Liberty.
Even if it was done on purpose, how could they get it so smooth around the black area? It really does blow my mind. I can make out the D of Denver mint.
The coin is not an error, but is PMD, as Paddyman98 stated. That being said I am just curious to know what the reverse looks like. The coin appears at least IMO from your photo as if it has been shellacked with an epoxy or something which gives the appearance of depth and ability to read the text but is smooth in touch
Is it smooth to the touch as well & unable to feel the text? If so, I think it is filled level with epoxy or something. Just a guess, but that's what it looks like to me.
I have a Texas state quarter with d mint. It is either completely clad covered including the rim or silver. No copper coloring in the edge
Is it worth anything other than a quarter. I collect coins so I plan to keep it anyways but just wondering
