Darn captailistic propoganda. Why doesn't the west ever respect the currency of a communist nation?

Liz gets older

On the AUSTRALIAN coins Elizabeth ages over the years. The mint has had different artist draw her and as time goes by- The mint has placed the newer older pictures of Lizzie on the coins.

I don't believe any other country does this.

Canada, I think is going back to France. Maybe the United States needs to reinvade them. After all Britian went in once and won at the Fields of Abraham but the U.S. went in Twice but left so maybe the third time is the charm. We already have their hockey teams and took back Doug Flute now it's time to get the Junior ROTC ready and armed! Oh by the way Merry Christmas to all of my Canadian friends.

 

Queen Elizabeth II appears on all the coins of such countries as Canada, New Zealand,Australia,& Fiji.However,
she did appear on the coins of such countries as Rhodesia,South Africa,East Africa,Jamaica,& Southern Rhodesia.She never appeared on the coins of Ghana & Malawi,even though they were Dominions as well.Interestingly,she has appeared on some Zambian coins that have been issued since 2000.Anyone else notices this?

 

While I do collect various countries, including Canada, I am at a complete loss as to WHY any independent country would KEEP using the Queen on their coinage. Personally, I think enough is enough. I have posed this question to different Canadian collectors in the past couple of years and they to are at a loss?

 

The simple answer is that under British Commonwealth geopolitics the Queen is considered the head of state by many member countries. In other words, she is not only the Queen of England, but the Queen of Canada, Queen of Australia, Queen of New Zealand, etc.

 

That's what i always thought.

As far as i'm aware, Canadians and Australians (should they want to for any unlikely or unknown reason), can refer to themselves as being British because technically they are, as the Queen is head of state, should they choose to be so. If they choose not to be then it makes no difference to the scheme of things because being British and being Australian is not actually in conflict. However being Australian and English would be more exclusive. Regardless of this though it's a nice flexibility to have, there's probably benefits in there somewhere.Another example of the murky and oft confusing world of British self identification terminology. Thus i suppose the Queen will stay on the currency until they get round to clearing that mess up.

 

Lenin on Coins.

That is rubbish,as Lenin has appeared on only 1 coin - the 1 Rouble coin
of the U.S.S.R. that was issued in 1970 to commemorate his birth centenary.Stalin appeared on only one coin -& it was not one from the U.S.S.R.! It was on a Czechoslovakian coin dated 1949.It was workers who appeared on the first U.S.S.R. coins,which was later superseded by the U.S.S.R.'s coat-of-arms.The coins dated 1921-23 belong to the Russian series,as its Cyrillic initials translate to the 'Russian Soviet Federated Socialist Republic',as the U.S.S.R. was formed in 1922.

 

Ouch. Well I happen to have the 1970 ruble as a left over from my fact finding fun days in the former soviet union but how about the 1985 1 ruble coin of Lenin for his 125 year birthday, the 1917-1977 60 year revolution commerative coin with Lenin and Cruiser Aurora and the 1967 1 ruble coin with lenin's portrait. My point was not to praise the evil empire but to point out that when it comes to the minting of coinage or the printing of notes a person can not forget to mention the former USSR or of course Red China. Any discussion should involve these entities as well. As for the winner, I joked that Stalin would have himself winning for after all that was what Stalin was all about, Stalin.
And I had tongue in cheek about Lenin being second to Abe and Liz for the United States/Great Britian led NATO did beat out the Warsaw Pact from behind the scenes.
Sorry if I led you to any misunderstands for I have seen the misery of the Soviets first hand and could see why any joking could lead to anger.

 

Andy,thank you for pointing out about the other U.S.S.R. coins.I knew that Lenin appears on the U.S.S.R. banknotes.The last time that Lenin appears on a banknote is on a Russian series dated 1992,but it used the old U.S.S.R. printing plates as a provisional measure.
